With a growing number of instances of COVID-19 in Alberta, there are various questions and concerns from members regarding how to proceed with their business during the pandemic. It is important to us to preserve the health and safety of our members, our staff, and the public, and we will continue to communicate regularly as we work to navigate through this challenging time.

We are committed to maintaining open lines of communication during this time and will be monitoring developments related to the virus and will be updating this page as we receive more information.

Real estate agent services are considered essential services by the Government of Alberta and can continue to operate at locations accessible to the public, ensuring that they implement appropriate sanitation and social distancing measures.

Latest Recommendations

With the ever changing nature of this situation we recommend referring to AREA’s showing tips, practice tips and forms.

Face-to-face interaction should be avoided whenever possible and when not possible, extreme caution should always be exercised. Utilize online meeting tools such as Zoom and Skype to interact with clients.

Open houses are prohibited at this time. Instead, use of technology, such as virtual tours and videoconferencing, is encouraged.

Avoid groups of more than 15 people as they are now prohibited by law.

Educate your clients on online tools which allow them to explore the market from the comfort of their homes.
Practice patience and kindness; recognizing that this is a stressful time for many and that business is not operating as usual.

Avoid sharing food or drink with others, including family members.

If you have the onset of a fever, cough, shortness of breath or any other cold or flu-like symptoms, stay home for 10 days. Should you continue to feel unwell after 10 days, continue to self isolate. Use Alberta Health Services online assessment tool to determine your next steps.

Alberta Health Services is launching a text-based program that aims to help provide encouragement and hope to Albertans. Text4Hope sends subscribers text messages of support and encouragement to ease stress or anxiety. Albertans can text COVID 19 Hope to 393939 to subscribe.
